We are excited to welcome teams, family members, officials and spectators to Wainwright for the AA U15 Hockey Alberta Provincial Tournament. While here, we invite you to shop, eat, play and visit!

SHOP

Big box retailers and a vibrant collection of unique shops, boutiques and services are available to satisfy all of your shopping needs. Enjoy shopping along our beautiful Main Street or visit the highway retailers in a quick 2-minute commute. EAT

Our Historic Downtown, with a collection of beautifully restored heritage buildings, has an array of eateries featuring cuisine from around the globe as well as from our own backyard. PLAY

In the Peace Memorial Multiplex you will find our 2 NHL-sized ice surfaces, an indoor running track and Rock Climbing Wall. The attached Communiplex houses an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, weight room, squash and racquetball courts as well as a performing arts theatre. The Wainwright Golf Course offers virtual golf simulators. We also have Outdoor Skating Rinks available and many parks and playground around town.

VISIT

Wainwright is the Buffalo Capital of Canada. Stop and take your photo at Canada’s largest Buffalo Statue and stop by the Bud Cotton Buffalo Paddock to see the live bison herd at the gates to CFB Wainwright. Anchored in the centre of downtown is Wainwright’s free-standing Memorial Clock Tower, built in 1925, one of the only structures left standing after the Great Fire of 1929.

While here, be sure to make tracks to the Battle River Train Trestle, the second longest train trestle in Canada or visit our restored pump jack in Petroleum Park. Experience prairie history as it comes alive at the Wainwright Museum, located in our original CNR train station. Share the stories of our pioneers, prisoners of war, military and the railway as well as aboriginal buffalo hunters, Hollywood movie crews, dedicated wildlife conservationists, long-suffering homesteaders, and moonshine-swilling prisoners of war.
